WyoSkate opened in downtown Gillette in 2016 as a roller derby and art boutique. In April they moved to 300 S. Gillette Avenue, in the same building as Sir Speedy and the Lubnau Law Office, expanding their offering of art, roller skates, protective skate gear, cosmetics, and apparel to include skateboards and inline skates. We cut the ribbon on their Chamber membership in their new location on April 19.
Everything you need to get started skating or to upgrade your current setup is available at WyoSkate, along with custom-designed and/or mounted skates, and fitted gear.
“I wanted a safe, comfortable place for people to come in and ask questions and find out what it is they really need, whether they’re quad skating or speed skating or skateboarding,” says owner Brenda Kirk. “If you’re not wearing the right safety gear, you’re not actually protecting yourself, and injuries take all the fun out of it.”
The new store space includes a classroom for people to learn about the different aspects of skating and skate maintenance, as well as a lounge for viewing roller derby bouts or other televised competitions. WyoSkate has also launched Northeast Wyoming’s first Chicks in Bowls chapter, CIB Gillette.
“I love being downtown and part of Gillette Main Street. It’s a great business community in Gillette so being part of the Chamber was also important.”
Stop by and visit on Friday or Saturday afternoons from Noon until 5 p.m, or message them on Facebook for an appointment. You can also call (307) 529-1506 with any questions.
