House Bill 134, an effort to establish a lodging tax that will fund the office of tourism, which is supported by WEDA, WTA, and the Chamber, was introduced and sent to the House Appropriations Committee this week.

At a meeting this week, Representative Walters (R-District 38) suggested to amend the bill to exclude county fairs around the state from the lodging tax during the week of county fair. The committee voted and passed to have the amendment written. They will be bringing the bill back up after an amendment has been drafted.
