Under New Ownership: Sole Mates

“We’re retired, so why not get a job?!”

Heather Herr and Andrea Hladky took over ownership of Sole Mates, after reading about previous owner Kathy Bowman’s retirement.

“We were so sad to see it go, but we were at the point in our lives where we thought ‘Why not?’,” said Andrea.

The pair decided to expand the offerings at the local downtown store, while offering the same great service. While Sole Mates no longer carries Patagonia merchandise, they now have multiple new brands in-store, from bathrobes to bags, yoga wear, leggings, and men’s clothing.

“We’ve increased the number of brands we carry, the sizes we carry, the inventory we have now is larger than previously,” said Heather at today’s ribbon cutting. A lot of the new items are from women-owned companies.

“Sometimes the stories behind the brand, the people sell the brand. It speaks to you,” said Heather.

Along with the popular shoe lines that were previously at Sole Mates, they now have bags from Deluth Pack, Erin Gray jewelry, Barefoot Dreams, Alo Yoga, Stance socks, and Boody eco-wear.

Sole Mates is still located at 211 S. Gillette Avenue downtown (next to Teacher’s Corner.) They’re open Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
