The hardest part of starting up… is the starting.
Gillette College and the Business Education Department have hosted Startup Weekend for the last three years in Gillette to support the passion of future entrepreneurs; helping to ignite their dreams that will continue to strengthen and grow our local economy and beyond.
Startup Weekend is a weekend long, with 54 hours of hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if their startup idea is viable. On average, half of the attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
At the Gillette City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 5th at 7 pm, in the City Hall Council Chambers, Mayor Louise Carter-King will proclaim Friday, November 15, 2019 as the launch of Startup Weekend Gillette, and the beginning of the “Shop Local” season.
Members of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce are encouraged to attend this event.
This year’s Startup Weekend event is November 15th through the 17th at Area 59. Beginning with open mic pitches Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes to a “Shark Tank” type panel of entrepreneurs and receive valuable feedback… and have a chance to WIN.
