Grants Available to Assist Small Rural Businesses

The Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) is a competitive grant designed to support targeted technical assistance, training, and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas that have fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 Million in gross revenues. Programmatic activities are separated into enterprise or opportunity type grant activities.

Towns, communities, non-profits, educational institutions, rural cooperatires, or federally recognized tribes can all apply for the program. There is no maximum grant amount; however, smaller requests are given higher priority.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2020. Applications involving construction or ground disturbance should be submitted as soon as possible to allow for environmental review.
