Cricket Wireless turned 20 this year, and one of the things they did was open a retail location in the Powder Basin Shopping Center, behind Perkins Restaurant.
“I’ve had Cricket Wireless since I was young, so I know about how great the service is,” says store manager Monique Johnson. “A lot of people feel like if you’re not using Verizon or AT&T then you’re not getting coverage. We’re not a fly by night company.”
In fact, Cricket is now a subsidiary of AT&T, and uses their cell towers – as well as their own – for coverage. They’re also a secondary user on Verizon’s towers. Which means, says Monique, you can get comprehensive cell phone service pretty much anywhere but deep in our National Parks or forests.
“So if you want total cell coverage, avoid those areas,” she laughed. “But it’s been going very well, we have unlimited 4G LTE, so we’ve had a really strong reception to the quality of the service that we offer.”
In addition to feeding us delicious homemade tamales, Cricket held their ribbon cutting this afternoon, and were presented with their membership plaque.
If you’d like to check out their family plans or regular service offerings, you can visit them at 2550 S. Douglas Hwy., Ste. 170 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 12 pm. – 5 p.m. on Sundays.
