County Commissioners Set New Guidelines for Landfill; Golf Course

In a special meeting held on Tuesday, March 31, Campbell County Commissioners met to re-evaluate county facility closures.

After the closure of the North Landfill on march 24, the County has decided that a continued closure is not feasible for those that don’t have a private hauler for their waste, or that burn their own trash. Therefore, “Public Dump Days” will start on April 4, and be held every first and third Saturday of the month, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

These will be the only days that commercial haulers and contractors will NOT be allowed at the North Landfill.

The landfill will not accept:

  • Appliances that need to have freon evacuated still
  • Used tires

There will not be charges for the public during Public Dump Days. You will not be expected to interact in-person with solid waste management staff. There will be a limited number of cars allowed in, with a one-out, one-in policy going in to effect. Please expect delays. Do not bring children under 15 or pets, as they are not allowed to leave your vehicle at any time.

In regards to Bell Nob Golf Course:

The Clubhouse and Pro Shop will be closed to the public. There will be no early morning play, to minimize interaction between the public and staff. Drinking fountains will not be turned on. Bunker rakes and ball washers will not be out on the course.

Tee times will be spread out 20 minutes apart, and golfers are advised not to arrive more than 20 minutes before their tee time. One rider per cart.

Staff will be reduced at this time but will be cleaning and disinfecting carts and other public areas.
