Campbell County Welcomes the Navajo Transitional Energy Company

Energy Capital Economic Development hosted a welcome reception for the Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) on September 18th. Ceceilia Tso, Special Projects Coordinator, and Jarvis Williams, Tribal Liaison, visited with business leaders to learn more about our community.

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge approved the sale of Cloud Peak Energy Corp to NTEC in August. When the sale closes this month, NTEC will become the third largest coal producer in the United States.

The company was formed to take ownership of the new investments. The Navajo Mine provides coal to the nearby Four Corners Power Plant, which is set to retire in 2031.

We’re excited to have NTEC be a part of our community and look forward to working with them in the future. Learn more about their company by visiting them online.
