Local retailers and media are the volunteer members that make up the Chamber’s Retail Committee. This group of dynamic individuals help the Chamber market Chamber member retailers, promote shopping locally and good customer service, as well as encourage the expansion of retail businesses in the area.
To promote shopping locally, the committee runs the Gillette is the Place to BEE promotion three times per year. For three weeks in the fall, four weeks just before Christmas and three weeks in the spring, customers who shop in participating businesses have the chance to win gift certificates of up to $400 that can be spent at local retailers. This promotion creates several chances for residents to win money for doing their shopping locally and helps to educate people on the variety of shopping available in the area.
